Ajai is a simple Dotharl. They care about fighting. They care about crushing things. They care about feeling truly alive in combat and enhancing their own skills so they can fight tougher and tougher enemies. They do not care about things like "gender", "learning", "thinking things through", or "common sense". Who needs those when you have big swords and a big axe?While blessed with a minor version of the Echo (capable of anticipating some attacks to avoid them), Ajai is not much stronger than most Dotharl. They have a natural inclination toward magic, as the Ajai of the past was a mage, but they prefer swinging weapons and haven't bothered to study. They travel now, always interested in the next big fight.

FIGHTING. Ajai loves fighting more than anything else. Showing off their strengths is something they adore, and they feel the most alive when the battle is an uncertain, bloody one. Need a hand vs a tough monster?GIL. Regrettably, traveling does cost money, which means that sometimes Ajai has to take on jobs for coin. This is very boring, but they'll do it. Maybe you can get them some mercenary work or something fun?MAGIC. Though not their preferred form of attack, they can appreciate a skilled mage. Perhaps you've noticed their latent power... will you be the one to finally teach them how to use it?THE ECHO. Though theirs is a minor version of it, they do happen to have the Echo. This allows them to fight primals as well as make the battlefield truly their home. Maybe you can help them learn more about it?

XAELA. The Dotharl are not exactly everyone's favorite tribe. Have you had run-ins with them before? Perhaps you're even familiar with Ajai?AETHER. Ajai's aether certainly reads as strange if you can sense such a thing. It seems as though they simply have too much of it and can't get rid of it quickly enough. Maybe you could help them learn more about this or teach them to use it more efficiently?PRIDE. Aside from being proud about their tribe, they're also very proud in general - meaning any blows to their pride will result in that temper of theirs flaring.OTHER? Have an idea I haven't mentioned? Feel free to reach out to me and we can discuss it! I would be happy to get Ajai involved in some less-than-legal dealings or under-the-table work - yakuza or otherwise!

 LOOKING FOR

ROMANCE. I'm a sucker for romance, and Ajai would be delightful to settle into a ship, as they've never actually had romantic feelings for anyone before and they don't know how to navigate that at all. It would be really fun and/or silly to play with, and I'd love to explore it! NB/any for them, though they greatly prefer physically (or magically) strong partners who can fend for themselves. They generally have very little interest in shyer, more submissive and gentle people, but who knows! I'm down to ship as long as there's chemistry and we discuss it.SHENANIGANS. Ajai is not necessarily a silly character, but they are a rather simple one. They are painfully straightforward and this includes being blunt, being obtuse, and being aggressively themselves. I love writing a good shenanigan and would be happy to get them involved in some silly things - or some more serious ones that occasionally dip into shenanigans!CHALLENGES. Ajai is very set in their ways and their thoughts and they're very stubborn, meaning they're not likely to change their mind easily. Someone who can challenge them in some way - mentally, verbally, physically, etc - is always of interest to me, as it might push them in a new direction!

 HISTORY.  Born to a Dotharl woman named Yargui, she was not given a name, as they were unsure which soul she was. It was a bit of an oddity for a Dotharli child to not immediately be recognized as one of their own, but not entirely unheard of. Yargui died not long after in a fearsome battle; the child's father, Qasar of the Kha, insisted he should be allowed to take his daughter and after some bickering, the Dotharl finally agreed.Thus, Ajai of the Kha gained her name. The more she learned of the Dotharl, the more she came to consider herself Ajai Dotharl-Kha, though her father heavily opposed this idea and insisted that she should leave the Dotharli beliefs behind. She is stubborn as all hell, however, and refuses to do that.Though she does worship Mother Nhaama as her Xaela brethren, Ajai always sought more than she could find on the Steppe. Like her Kha brothers and sisters, she too wanted to learn more about the outside world, but she wasn't content remaining around Reunion. After much time (and arguing with her father) she finally left the Steppe in the dead of night to journey in pursuit of power - mostly for herself rather than her tribe.Wielding the art of the Amasar - a tribe thought destroyed - Ajai can see the future with her "rune-bones", animal bones that are carefully preserved and maintained with carvings of runes on them. Exactly what they say and mean is unknown to all but the Kha, though they generally consider it a silly game rather than anything serious. Ajai doesn't believe in it either, but she uses it to sell her act of telling the future... and then she leaves before people can call her out on her lies.
